TORONTO, Dec. 19, 2013 /CNW/ - Marcia Visser, Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) Board Chair announced today that Anthony Dale has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the OHA, effective immediately.
"Anthony is an accomplished leader in the public sector," Visser said. "He brings a wealth of experience to his new role with the association, including political acumen, an understanding of the importance of health system quality improvement, and a solid track record of successful relationship-building and collaboration."
"Under his leadership the OHA will continue to expand its role as a thought leader, advancing the issues most important to Ontario's health system and the patients it serves. Our Board of Directors unanimously supported this decision," Visser said.
Anthony has worked with the OHA and its members since 2004, previously serving as the association's Vice President, Policy and Public Affairs before being appointed Interim President and CEO in June 2013. In the ten years that Anthony's been with the OHA, he has played an important leadership role in influencing policy direction and building partnerships that have helped improve the transparency, accountability, quality and value of Ontario's health system.
"I am extremely honoured to have the opportunity to work even closer with the OHA's member hospitals and partners as we work to create a higher-performing health system in Ontario," said Anthony. "The OHA takes great pride in serving Ontario's hospitals and patients well, and our focus going forward will be on collaborations and solutions that can improve the way Ontario's health care system works for the patients it serves."
The OHA is the voice of Ontario's public hospitals. Founded in 1924, the OHA uses advocacy, education and partnerships to build a strong, innovative and sustainable health care system for all Ontarians.
Before joining the OHA, Anthony worked with the Government of Ontario, serving as a political aide in the offices of the Premier, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, and Minister of Labour. He has also worked as a consultant for a leading public affairs consulting firm. Anthony has further served the public sector as a two-time Governor-in-Council (GIC) appointee of the Government of Canada, most recently with an appointment to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg.
Anthony holds a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in political studies, both from Queens University. He has also completed the Accelerated Development Program (ADP) in General Management at the London Business School.
