Ontario Liberal Party Chooses Candidates for By-elections in Vaughan and Kitchener-Waterloo
TORONTO, Aug. 8, 2012 /CNW/ - With the date of the provincial by-elections announced today, a nomination meeting will be held Sunday, August 12, at Supreme Banquet and Convention Centre, 8311 Weston Road in Woodbridge at 4:30 p.m. to acclaim long-time Vaughan advocate Steven Del Duca as the Liberal candidate in the riding of Vaughan. The Liberal candidate in Kitchener-Waterloo will be elected tomorrow, August 9, at a contested nomination meeting at Bingemans, 425 Bingemans Centre Drive in Kitchener at 6:30 p.m.
Eric Davis, Karen Scian, and Raj Sharma are vying for the Kitchener-Waterloo nomination.
"Ontario Liberals are pleased to have very dedicated, strong local candidates putting their names forward for these nominations, who can stand up and fight for local residents," said party president Yasir Naqvi.
"Our message to voters will be clear. We need to send Ontario Liberal MPPs to Queen's Park to push through opposition games. Only Ontario Liberals have a plan to balance the budget by 2017-2018 while protecting health care and education. Only Ontario Liberals have the experience, the values and the strength to get the job done," he said.
Premier Dalton McGuinty announced the by-elections for September 6.
