TORONTO, July 11, 2013 /CNW/ - The professional magazine for Ontario's public school principals and vice-principals, The Register, is proud to have won three prestigious "Tabbie Awards" from Trade, Association and Business Publications International (TABPI).
The Tabbies is an annual international editorial and design competition for magazines catering to trades, associations and businesses. This year, close to 500 entries from around the globe were submitted for consideration.
The Register won a Gold award for the Focus/Profile interview conducted with Dan Savage of the It Gets Better Campaign (Spring 2012 Vol. 14 No.1). Savage is a gay rights activist who advocates on behalf of gay youth, encouraging them to understand that, despite the hardships during their teen years, that life can and usually does get better.
In awarding Gold to this piece, the judging panel noted that it was: "A compelling piece that conveys a big message to school executives about what they need to consider doing to help students of all sexual orientations. Thought-provoking, thorough coverage of a sensitive and timely topic. It seems to be an article that will be very useful to and well-received by the audience. The photos provide an added interest to the piece."
In addition, The Register also won two honourable mentions for

The Register is published three times per year by the Ontario Principals' Council, a voluntary professional association representing over 5,000 principals and vice-principals in Ontario's public elementary and secondary schools. Established in 1998, the OPC advocates on behalf of public education and provides professional supports to its Members.
