Ontario Science Centre Hosts Hydro One's Electricity Discovery Centre
TORONTO, March 16, 2015 /CNW/ - Hydro One is excited to announce that the Electricity Discovery Centre is part of the Ontario Science Centre's March Break programming this year.
Since its launch in 2013, the Electricity Discovery Centre has participated in more than 30 events across the province with 95 per cent of visitors saying they would recommend visiting to family and friends.
The Ontario Science Centre is a popular March Break attraction for tens of thousands of students around the Greater Toronto Area and across Ontario.
Visitors to the Ontario Science Centre (770 Don Mills Road, Toronto) will find the Electricity Discovery Centre, which is fully accessible, outside the front entrance during the following hours:
- Saturday, March 14 to Sunday, March 22 – 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
"Hydro One takes its commitment to educating its customers seriously. We believe our Electricity Discovery Centre is an important investment for our customers and how we educate and interact with them," said Carmine Marcello, President and CEO, Hydro One.
The Electricity Discovery Centre is a 1,000-square foot state-of-the-art mobile education trailer with interactive exhibits that explain Ontario's power system, help customers manage their electricity costs, and educate children about electricity safety.
The Electricity Discovery Centre is staffed by ambassadors who engage and educate visitors, offering tours through the various exhibits, helping customers with the various touchscreens and answering questions on anything from understanding billing to modernizing outage detection and restoration.
Another popular feature is the unique Solar Charging Station, which allows visitors to recharge their tablets and smartphones with renewable energy from the sun while they enjoy their Electricity Discovery Centre experience.
Children learn about electricity safety by meeting Ellie, the virtual leader of the Kids' Electricity Safety Team, and becoming members by finding 11 electrical hazards around the home.
