TORONTO, May 21, 2013 /CNW/ - The Ontario Science Centre will be dancing to the rhythm of Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival through its continued partnership with the annual celebration of Caribbean culture. In addition to programming at the Centre and at various sites throughout the Carnival, the Centre will be presenting, for the fourth year, the coveted Ontario Science Centre Award for Innovation in Mas for the most innovative Carnival costume.
"Many people may not make the direct link between science and the festival," said Dr. Hooley McLaughlin, Chief Science Officer, Ontario Science Centre, "but mathematics and physics inform the musical rhythms and the mechanics behind the costumes. The Science Centre is excited to partner with Scotiabank's Caribbean Carnival with our fourth annual Ontario Science Centre Award for Innovation in Mas."
The Ontario Science Centre Award for Innovation in Mas will recognize innovation in costume design at the celebration which is widely known for its vibrant and dazzling costumes. The Award will shine a light on the intricate art and scientific merit of costume design by honouring the engineers of these creative masterpieces.
