Ontario Shores Unveils Recovery Series and Hope Song
National Mental Health Week May 4-10
WHITBY, ON, April 30, 2015 /CNW/ - Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) is reducing stigma during National Mental Health Week May 4-10 through music and an inspiring patient-focused series to be featured on #MindVine, our organization's social media home.
The series celebrates the recovery stories of five people from diverse backgrounds who have faced the challenges of mental illness and are eager to share details of their journeys with the hope of inspiring others.
#5in5 – Five Recovery Stories in Five Days begins on Monday, May 4 through to Friday, May 8.
In addition, Ontario Shores recognizes National Mental Health Week with the launch of an original song and video to inspire Hope for Mental Health. The lyrics to the song, called Hope were developed in collaboration with patients, family members and staff. The song will be available on Itunes on Thursday, May 7. More information on the development of the Hope song is available on #MindVine.

Chelsea - Monday, May 4
A sweet teenaged girl who has overcome bullying and social media bullying while learning to live with depression, anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Rhonda - Tuesday, May 5
Her daughter lives with bipolar disorder and her family was in crisis before she was greeted by staff and volunteers at our Family Resource Centre.
Matthew – Wednesday, May 6
An immigrant who started hearing voices and became delusional shortly after settling in Canada with his wife and daughter.
Janet – Thursday, May 7
Now 62 and learning to live with schizoaffective disorder, she began noticing changes in her mental health in her late 40s.
Shadi – Friday, May 8
After suffering a severe intracranial hemorrhage caused by an aneurysm when he was 11, he's had to rediscover his place in the world.
