CHARLOTTETOWN, July 3, 2014 /CNW/ - The PEI 2014 Celebration Zone will host the Province of Ontario, a partner of the PEI 2014 celebrations, during Ontario Week July 7th to 13th. Ontario's vibrant culture and exceptional performing arts community will be showcased throughout the week at the free, family-friendly Celebration Zone. The week will include a performance by multiple Juno award-winner, Serena Ryder.
"Since Confederation, Ontario has been enriched by the arts and culture of the many people who have chosen to call it home", said Ontario's Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Michael Coteau. "I encourage everyone to get out during Ontario Week to experience the rich and diverse sights, sounds and tastes of Ontario."
Ontario Week will also include performances by Juno-winning R&B singer, Jully Black; comedian and host of TV's Cash Cab, Adam Growe; alt-country favourites, Cuff The Duke; award-winning magician, Eric Leclerc; multi-instrumentalist Qui Qui Escamilla; contemporary dance/theatre company, Kahawi Dance; country/bluegrass icons, The Good Brothers; comedic interactive theatre group, Dufflebag Theatre; and interactive theatrical performer, Evalyn Parry.
The Ontario Pavilion will be activated to showcase the "Best of Ontario" experiences from wine, to northern outdoor to city and resort experiences geared to both a romantic getaway for two to a family experience. Tourism partners such as Tourism Toronto, Resorts of Ontario, Niagara Falls Helicopters, Niagara Parks, Niagara Falls Tourism Wine Council of Ontario, Attractions Ontario and hotel accommodations establishments (e.g. Delta Toronto, Sheraton) have all contributed to providing prizes.

Visitors to the PEI 2014 Celebration Zone can enjoy excellent Ontario food products and top-notch cuisine throughout the week at the Fathers Pub and Oyster Bar.
The PEI 2014 Celebration Zone is a free, 70 day cultural festival running between July 1st and September 7th. Located at Confederation Landing on the Historic Charlottetown Waterfront, the PEI 2014 Celebration Zone will be a hub of family-friendly celebratory activity all summer long.
In 2014, Canadians will mark the 150th anniversary (Sesquicentennial) of the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference, which led the way to the creation of Canada. PEI 2014 Inc. is facilitating the planning, promotion and implementation of the Sesquicentennial celebrations. The PEI 2014 celebrations are made possible through generous support from the Government of Canada, the Government of Prince Edward Island, and the City of Charlottetown. The year-long and province-wide PEI 2014 program of events will honour the past, celebrate the present and plan a bold tomorrow.
