Ontario's doctors ready to work with new government to build the health care system of the future
TORONTO, June 16, 2014 /CNW/ - Ontario's doctors look forward to continuing to work with Premier Kathleen Wynne and her government to improve the province's health-care system.
"We congratulate Premier Wynne and her government today," said Dr. Ved Tandan, President of the OMA. "We are enthusiastic about continuing our work together and see this as an opportunity to renew our focus on ensuring all Ontarians have access to a quality health care system where and when they need it."
During the provincial campaign, the OMA surveyed all candidates and parties about their support for six key policies to improve patient care, including strategies around: end of life, health human resources, mental health, connectivity and communication, stronger tobacco measures, and obesity.
"Eighty-seven per cent believe health care is an important issue," said Dr. Tandan. "We need to ensure health care stays a top priority for this new government."
