TORONTO, Sept. 3, 2013 /CNW/ - Equal Voice proudly announces that the 2013 EVE Award Toronto recipient will be Kathleen Wynne, Ontario's first woman Premier. Premier Wynne will be honoured on September 23rd at the Eighth Annual Women in Public Life Luncheon, hosted with event partner The Canadian Club of Toronto at the Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel.
The EVE Award recognizes outstanding women who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of women in public life. Premier Wynne will join a list of EVE Toronto recipients from all political parties, including Andrea Horwath, Isabel Bassett, Anne McLellan, Kim Campbell, Frances Lankin, Hazel McCallion, Flora MacDonald, and Carolyn Bennett. Equal Voice has been promoting the election of more women in all levels of government for over a decade.
Kathleen Wynne made history when she became Ontario's 25th Premier and the first woman to hold this office. Wynne was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2003 representing the riding of Don Valley West. She became the leader of the Ontario Liberal Party in January, 2013 and was sworn in as Premier on February 11, 2013. She joins the ranks of five other women first ministers in Canada.
Kathleen is a natural problem solver who is dedicated to bringing groups together to achieve real results. She and her team are focused on building a strong, fair Ontario where communities can thrive and our economy can grow.
