Open House organized by Tourisme Montréal - The country's largest tourism awareness campaign celebrates 20 years of success!
MONTREAL, June 21, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The 20th edition of Tourisme Montréal's "Open House" initiative will take place across the city until June 30. The largest awareness campaign of its kind in the country, its objective is to help tourism industry employees discover and become better acquainted with the various visitor activities available in the city just as the summer tourism season begins. As such, some thirty tourist attractions will open their doors to some 15 000 people from different facets of the tourist industry - hotels, Tourisme Montréal, the Palais des congrès de Montréal (Montréal Convention Center), Québec's Ministry of Tourism, Montréal wholesalers and travel agencies and taxi drivers.
"We have organized this initiative for the last 20 years because we are absolutely convinced that it is through personal experience that our tourist industry employees will become the best ambassadors to assist our visitors," underlined Charles Lapointe, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tourisme Montréal.
"Not only is this Open House initiative extremely appreciated by hotel industry staff, it serves as a unique opportunity to discover the city and as a result, to better serve our clients. All participants benefit greatly from this experience and I applaud Tourisme Montréal for this exceptional initiative," added William Brown, President of the Hotel Association of Greater Montréal (AHGM).
The staff of approximately one hundred Montréal hotels and their families are invited to take part in the different activities proposed this year. In addition, some 6 500 taxi drivers are also welcome to visit participating attractions, which include the Science Centre, Biodôme, Insectarium, Botanical Garden, Musée d'art contemporain, Montréal Museum of Fine Art, the McCord Museum, the Stewart Museum, the Pointe-à-Callière Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History and the Centre d'histoire de Montréal during this anniversary edition of the Open House.
