Efforts Focused on Easing Concerns & Confusion Caused by COVID-19
TORONTO, May 5, 2020 /CNW/ - With Ontario dental offices closed for non-essential services, Toronto consumers are confused about how to handle the oral health issues they'd normally schedule an in-person appointment for. With this in mind, Opencare, an online network that matches consumers with top dentists, today launches its #OralWellnessMatters campaign that connects Torontonians with leading dentists to help ease anxiety by addressing concerns about how to correctly identify and manage dental emergencies, safety procedures, preventative oral health care, limitations of teledentistry and more.
"People are holding off on dealing with serious dental issues because they don't know where to turn or have safety concerns stemming from COVID and that's not right," said Dr. Natalie Archer, of Archer Dental, and Opencare dentist participating in the campaign. "I'm partnering with Opencare to get the word out that help is out there and to let people know preserving oral health during these challenging times is possible."
Starting this week, @Opencare will kick off its #OralWellnessMatters Instagram Live series where consumers can engage with leading dentists regarding how to identify an emergency, limitations of teledentistry, preventative oral wellness tips, and more. Participating dentists include Dr. Natalie Archer, of Archer Dental, taking place this Wednesday at 10AM, Dr. Jeanie Luong of Baywell Dental Centre, Dr. Hammad Afif of Waterview Dental.

In Ontario, non-essential dental visits are currently paused during COVID-19 which means cleanings and checkups need to be rescheduled until further notice. According to the Ontario Dental Association a true emergency includes: trauma – an injury to the mouth and face, severe infection, such as an abscess or swelling, bleeding that continues for a long time and dental pain that can't be managed by over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol or Advil.
