OpenText Receives Latest Records Management DoD 5015.2 Certifications
OpenText Records Management, OpenText Suite for SAP and OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for Microsoft® SharePoint Solutions Are Now Certified for DoD 5015.2
WATERLOO, Ontario, Dec. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenText™ (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in Enterprise Information Management (EIM), today announced OpenText Records Management has obtained DoD 5015.2-Chapter 4 Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) Certification, a global benchmark for US federal agencies, and de facto standard for public and private sector organizations worldwide.
Certification under the DoD 5015.2-Chapter 4 FOIA/PA requirements is of particular importance to the US Federal Government following signing of the Presidential Memorandum for the "Managing Government Records Directive" which requires:
- All permanent records must be managed in electronic format by 2019; and,
- Email must be managed in electronic format in a Records Management system by 2016.
- Increasing visibility of privacy and compliance requirements such as FOIA/PA.
In addition to FOIA/PA certification, OpenText has renewed its baseline certification to DoD 5015.02-STD and Chapter 3 Classification certification for OpenText Records Management, and baseline certifications for OpenText Suite for SAP and OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for Microsoft® SharePoint solutions.
"Information governance is of critical importance to both public and private sector organizations," said Muhi Majzoub, senior vice president of Engineering at OpenText. "We are committed to ensuring that our software achieves important certification in North America and other markets around the world to help our customer meet or exceed their regulatory requirements. Achieving key certification gives our customers worldwide the confidence, and regulatory assurance, that OpenText can support their information and records management needs."
The DoD 5015.2 certification process serves as a way to demonstrate that Records Management software meets mandatory functional requirements for use in the U.S. federal government. In addition to the US government, the certification is widely regarded as the benchmark for records management software across many other industries. The additional Chapter 4 requirements are designed to ensure that the security of official records, shared throughout many departments within multiple federal agencies, remains high.
