MONTRÉAL, April 28, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - As part of the Opération Patrimoine event, which will be held in May, the Service des communications de la Ville de Montréal has stopped broadcasting the video on the city's Web site that went online April 26. The video promoted historical knowledge through a number of testimonials from craftspeople.
"My department chose to remove the video after comments were made by citizens who felt that this promotional tool did not promote the expertise of craftspeople from visible cultural communities. We sincerely apologize that the video did not sufficiently represent the values of inclusiveness and equality that the municipal administration and Montréal's population advocate," said Louis Beauchamp, director of the Service des communications de la Ville de Montréal.
Opération Patrimoine aims to promote built, archaeological and landscape heritage as well as knowledge and tradition.
