OPP Commissioner supports actions of officers
ORILLIA, ON, April 14 /CNW/ - Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Commissioner Julian Fantino spoke out today in support of the officers from Caledon Detachment involved in the investigation of an incident involving Mr. Rahim Jaffer.
"I am confident that the OPP conducted a thorough and detailed investigation in this case and obtained the necessary grounds to lay the charges. Our officers acted in good faith, professionally and in the best interest of public and officer safety during all aspects of this investigation, "said Commissioner Fantino.
In 2009, Caledon...for the second year in a row...ranked as the safest city in Maclean's Magazine's annual crime ranking of Canada's 100 largest cities. Caledon's "crime score" is 87 per cent below the national average.
"The ranking by Maclean's Magazine comes as no surprise to me. OPP officers are dedicated to delivering policing services that meet the needs of local communities and ensuring they are safe and secure," added Commissioner Fantino.
