NAPANEE, ON, Feb. 27, 2014 /CNW/ - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Napanee detachment wants to advise everyone that the OPP is aware of media reports about a possible protest. The OPP do have contingency plans in place in the event that there is a disruption of some sort to ensure the safety of the public, officers and protestors.
The role of the OPP is to ensure public safety and to keep the peace. In the event of a protest incident, the OPP will use a measured response that respects everyone's right to peaceful, lawful protest. In the event of criminal activity, incidents will be investigated and those responsible will be held accountable.
The traveling public is encouraged to check ahead for possible traffic disruption or road closure information or to monitor the OPP Twitter account @OPP_ER and local media for prompt up-to-date information.
