OPSBA Ratifies Tentative Settlement Reached with OSSTF Teachers
TORONTO, Sept. 18, 2015 /CNW/ - The Ontario Public School Boards' Association (OPSBA) is pleased to announce that the Association has ratified the tentative settlement reached with OSSTF Teachers.
"This agreement ensures positive learning conditions for students and is respectful of the teachers who work in our classrooms," said Michael Barrett, president of OPSBA. "Teachers and education workers deeply influence a positive and productive learning environment for students and are supported in this role through the peace and stability that comes from successfully negotiated collective agreements."
This will support the achievement of timely local agreements. Under Ontario's new bargaining process, agreements must be reached both provincially and locally.
This is the first central settlement under the School Boards Collective Bargaining Act. Going into this round of bargaining OPSBA engaged in an inclusive process to determine priorities. This lengthy process ensured the Association had broad input from all of our school board stakeholder groups.
