OPSEU members launch "Families Know Best Voyage" in support of autism and special services in northwestern Ontario
THUNDER BAY, ON, April 17, 2019 /CNW/ - OPSEU members in northwestern Ontario are launching their "Families Know Best Voyage" in support of critical autism and other special services that families in the region desperately need - and need expanded.
The voyage launches tomorrow in Thunder Bay and will hit the road next week, taking OPSEU members to each of PC MPP Greg Rickford's constituency offices across northwestern Ontario. They want a commitment from Rickford that he will stand up for his constituents at Queen's Park and fight for an increase in frontline workers and special services in the region. OPSEU members will also be fund raising for the Thunder Bay Family Network along the way.
"There's a severe shortage of frontline workers and special services in northwestern Ontario. But for families lucky enough to actually get to the services available, many have to travel a long way," says OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas.
