Oral Health Month 2018 - Crest® and Oral-B® help break through barriers to upgrading your routine during Oral Health Month
- While change can be tough, one fifth of Canadians feel their current oral health practices aren't delivering results -
TORONTO, April 13, 2018 /CNW/ - Canadians understand the importance of oral health; in fact, a recent survey from Crest® and Oral-B® found that while more than half (53 per cent) of Canadians are committed to their oral health routine. With April marking Oral Health Month in Canada, it's the perfect time for Canadians to take stock of oral health routines to ensure we're getting the most out of those two minutes of suggested brushing in front of the mirror every morning and evening.
We know change can be hard -- especially when it comes to changing daily routines or habits including oral health -- and in fact, 35 per cent of Canadians agree it is difficult to implement changes. That said, upgrading your oral health routine isn't as difficult as it may seem - simple switches like using a power toothbrush and swapping your current paste for Crest® Pro-Health can make a big impact, as these product leverage the key ingredients and techniques dentists use. Crest® and Oral-B® work with dental professionals across the country to help educate Canadians on the simple ways to step up their oral hygiene at home, while continually committing to innovation to deliver products that help counter some of the habits we can't seem to break that can damage teeth and gums.
"Dental professionals are there to assess a patient's oral care, but between visits it's important for Canadians to keep up their routines on their own, or elevate if you don't feel it is as effective as you like. For that, we also provide tips and information to ensure you are seeing results at home," said Dr. Janet Tamo, dentist and Crest® and Oral-B® Smile Council Member. "Change may feel difficult, but it can be as simple as upgrading to a power brush like the Oral-B Genius 8000 that cleans the way your dentist recommends with superior performance, and ensuring you are using a toothpaste like Crest® Pro-Health that protects against acidic foods and drinks many of us consume regularly, such as wine, coffee and sugary treats."
While Canadians understand the importance of a strong oral health routine, it's easy to fall into bad habits. In fact, in their recent study, Crest® and Oral-B® found that over one quarter of Canadians couldn't confirm when they last switched their toothbrush.
Additional survey findings include:
- Almost half (43 per cent) of Canadians admit that they may consume foods or drinks that are harmful to their enamel, but they can't break the habit.
- Over one quarter of Canadians (28 per cent) can't confirm the last time they changed their toothbrush. And almost half of Canadians (46 per cent) can't confirm that they understand the benefits of switching from a manual to a power brush. Did you know switching from a manual to a power brush not only streamlines your routine but encourages better brushing technique - two minutes of brushing in circular motions twice a day. In fact, Oral-B Genius 8000 removes up to 500% more plaque than a manual brush
- Only one quarter of Canadians can strongly agree that they understand the benefits of their toothpaste.
- Nearly half of Canadians (46 per cent) admit they don't floss as often as they should. Ask a dental professional how to make flossing more approachable for you to ensure you're including this key step in your routine!
For Oral Health Month, jumpstart your oral care routine by scheduling a dental check-up and using Crest®, Scope® and Oral-B® products to maximize results and protect your health in-between dentist visits.
