Organization of CANDU Industries applauds the Government of Canada's conclusion of negotiations for the Canada-India Nuclear Cooperation Agreement
OCI member companies stand ready to deliver high quality, innovative nuclear products and services to India's expanding nuclear energy program
PICKERING, ON, Nov. 6, 2012 /CNW/ - The Organization of CANDU Industries (OCI) applauds the Government of Canada on today's announcement of the successful conclusion of negotiations for the Administrative Arrangement for the Canada-India Nuclear Cooperation Agreement. This important initiative will create new export opportunities for Canada's nuclear industry and create jobs and economic benefits for Canada.
The Canada-India Nuclear Cooperation Agreement will strengthen Canada's role in helping India meet its electricity production plans through the peaceful use of nuclear power and create new opportunities for Canadian companies to supply nuclear products and services.
"OCI member companies employ more than 12,000 people with a wide range of technical skills and specialties who are ready to deliver high quality, innovative nuclear products and services to India's expanding nuclear market," said OCI President Dr. Ron Oberth. "Many of these companies are small and medium sized businesses, and this important agreement will pave the way for the creation of new high quality sustainable nuclear-related jobs that are so important to the Canadian nuclear industry and to Canada's economy."
