Organization of CANDU Industries (OCI) announces Charity Motorcycle Ride and $5000 donation to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital
PICKERING, ON, June 25, 2012 /CNW/ - The Organization of CANDU Industries is pleased to announce that its first nuclear Charity Motorcycle Ride on June 23rd raised $5,000 in support of the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of nuclear medicine equipment.
Major sponsors for the event were AECL Nuclear Laboratories, Candu Energy Inc, Bruce Power, EMC, AMEC-NSS and Promation Nuclear.
The all day ride began at 10:00 am from locations in Stayner and Whitby with riders from OCI member companies, OPG, Bruce Power and Candu Energy. Organizers met initial goals to reach out to communities in Southern Ontario as well as getting riders from the wide spectrum of the nuclear industry. "This charity event will take place next year to continue to raise funds for much needed diagnostic equipment for nuclear medicine in hospitals" the encouraged organizers and participants confirmed.
