Ormi International Launch a Success - BYOD Teaching Platform By EXO U Receives Positive Response at BETT
MONTREAL, Jan. 26, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - ("EXO U") (TSXV: EXO) – Last week, educators attending the 2016 International BETT Conference in London gave an enthusiastic welcome to Ormi: the world's simplest, yet most advanced BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) teaching platform ever created. Ormi, which is Greek for "momentum," launched on Thursday, January 21st before an audience of over 40,000 educators from around the world. EXO U now shifts its focus to prepare for Ormi's North American launch, planned for February 3rd at the TCEA Conference in Austin, Texas.
At BETT, above the tradeshow floor, teachers and administrators took the BYOD discussion online, where EXO U's sponsored "Let's Solve BYOD" listening tour was underway. Concurrent with Ormi's International launch, the three-week digital event captures live input from across the global education spectrum. Moderated by education journalist Ken Royal, teachers were invited to join in the conversation and share ideas to define, improve, and capture scalable practices. During the 4-day conference, over 68,000 people had contributed, shared or listened in on the discussion.
"We all know what BYOD is," said Radio Host, Rusell Prue when interviewing EXO U's VP of Marketing Ian Bryan on the tradeshow floor. "But we don't know how to deal with it."
Bryan responded, "Teachers have technology in their classrooms that doesn't work [with multiple devices]. Rather than compete with those solutions… we just want to make it better, easier, faster".
EXO U also participated in BETT's Secondary Learn & Live Leadership Panel, moderated by Kevin Hogan from Tech&Learning Magazine and ICT Consultant Terry Freedman, and hosted customers and partners at the follow-up reception co-hosted by EXO U. Other launch highlights included interviews with specialist education broadcasters, and meetings with dozens of journalists from the UK, USA and international news media.
"EXO U is on a mission to make BYOD not only acceptable, but also essential in the classroom globally," remarked Education Writer and former Head Teacher, Gerald Haigh. "Students who arrive equipped with familiar technology are in a position to extend their learning into areas which would otherwise be out of reach or only accessible with difficulty."
EXO U CEO Kevin Pawsey stated, "Mobile devices are growing faster than any other hardware category in the K12 education market. From the conversations I had with vendors and educators at the show, there is now a real drive towards having technology that is easy to install, easy to use, relevant and affordable. Administrators want to see tangible returns on investments in Edtech and I think we are well placed to address that with Ormi as BYOD accelerates globally. Within a few days of meetings with manufacturers and distributors, we've already signed several NDA's to enable further negotiations"
