Ornge Board Appoints Dr. Andrew McCallum as President and Chief Executive Officer
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Dec. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of Ornge, Ontario's provider of air ambulance and related services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrew McCallum, M.D., F.R.C.P(C), as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ornge.
Since 2008, Dr. McCallum has been the Chief Coroner for Ontario. Prior to that he was a Regional Coroner and held various leadership positions at Hamilton Health Sciences and at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre. He is a specialist in emergency medicine. Dr. McCallum trained as a flight surgeon in the Canadian Forces and he is a licensed private pilot.

Dr. McCallum expressed his enthusiasm for the important service Ornge provides and the opportunity to lead the organization. "I am thrilled and honoured to have the opportunity to lead Ornge. I look forward to working to ensure that Ontarians receive the timely and appropriate medical care they need when they are being airlifted or transported to hospital in our aircraft and vehicles," he said. The board would like to acknowledge and thank Ron McKerlie, Interim President and CEO since January 2012, for his skilled leadership in guiding Ornge for the past eleven months. "He has done an exemplary job of laying the foundation for Ornge moving forward and rebuilding the trust of the staff and our stakeholders as we work to continually enhance the quality of our service," Mr. Delaney added.
