MISSISSAUGA, ON, July 24, 2012 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors for Ornge, a not-for-profit air ambulance and critical care land transport provider serving the Province of Ontario, today announced that the search for a permanent President & Chief Executive Officer has begun. Following a formal request for proposals and rigourous selection process, Ornge's Board has engaged the international executive search firm of Spencer Stuart to conduct the search, which is expected to conclude in the fall.
Ornge performs and coordinates approximately 18,000 medical transports per annum and operates from bases across Ontario. The organization has more than 500 employees, including paramedics, paediatric transport paramedics, transport medicine physicians, pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, operations control centre personnel, a team of educators and corporate staff. Ornge's fleet, consisting of helicopters, fixed wing aircraft and land vehicles, has the capabilities of a mobile hospital.
Ornge's seven-member volunteer Board, appointed in January 2012 and chaired by Ian W. Delaney, includes Charles Harnick, Pat Lang, Dr. Barry McLellan, Maneesh Mehta, Trish Volker and Patrice Merrin, who chairs the Search Committee. Commenting on the search, Mr. Delaney said, "The Board is committed to conducting a thorough and transparent search process in order to attract candidates whose expertise and skills will contribute to continuous improvement in quality of patient care and operational excellence."
