OSC announces new members of the Investor Advisory Panel
TORONTO, Jan. 7, 2019 /CNW/ - The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) today announced two new members of its independent Investor Advisory Panel (IAP).
The IAP advises and comments on proposed rules, policies and investor protection initiatives, while considering the views of a broad range of investors through consultation with investors and organizations representing investors.
The new IAP members are:
Daniel Brunet: Mr. Brunet has served as National Director on the Board of Directors for the National Association of the Federal Retirees since 2017. Prior to his retirement from the Federal Public Service in 2014, he held various positions including Director of Legal Services at the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada and Crown Prosecutor for Gouvernement du Québec, Ministère de la Justice, and the Attorney General of Ontario.
Ilana Singer: Ms. Singer is Vice-President and Corporate Secretary at the Canadian Investor Protection Fund. Ms. Singer is Chair of the Toronto Centre (TC) Securities Advisory Board, and a long-serving multilingual TC Program Leader. Ms. Singer serves as a Securities Expert for the International Monetary Fund, and was previously Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Director at FAIR Canada.
The new members have been appointed for two-year terms effective January 1, 2019.
The IAP is an important voice for investors in the regulatory process, and new members were selected to ensure that the Panel continues to represent a broad range of relevant experience, skills, knowledge and perspectives.

The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk.
