OSC Announces Updated Commission's Book of Authorities
TORONTO, Aug. 28, 2018 /CNW/ - The Ontario Securities Commission today published an updated Book of Authorities. The Book of Authorities contains cases that have been frequently cited in Commission decisions.
When filing hearing materials for use by adjudicative panels of the Commission, a party relying on a case listed in the Book of Authorities is not required to reproduce the case in its entirety. See the Commission's Practice Guideline for details on the use of the Book of Authorities in tribunal proceedings.
Copies of the Book of Authorities will be maintained in each hearing room. The Book of Authorities is also available in electronic format on the Commission's website.
The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. Investors are urged to check the registration of any persons or company offering an investment opportunity and to review the OSC investor materials available at http://www.osc.gov.on.ca.
