OSC Investor Alert: Convicted Fraudster Neil Suresh Chandran
TORONTO, July 19, 2019 /CNW/ - The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is warning Ontario investors not to invest with Neil Suresh Chandran, who is permanently banned from trading securities in Ontario, and has been convicted of securities fraud in the United States.
Mr. Chandran is actively soliciting Ontario investors.
Mr. Chandran and his company, Sungame Corp. were convicted of grand larceny and securities fraud in New York State, in connection with a scheme to defraud investors through a 3D computer tablet business.
In 2015, the Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) imposed a number of bans against Mr. Chandran and his companies Energy TV Inc., Chandran Holding Media, Inc. (also known as Chandran Holdings & Media Inc.) and Chandran Media, for engaging in unregistered trading and illegal distributions of securities. In 2016, the OSC issued a reciprocal order based on the ASC proceedings, that, among other things, banned Mr. Chandran from trading in securities (which includes soliciting investors to trade in securities) in Ontario.
Ontario investors who have been solicited by Mr. Chandran or representatives of him should contact the OSC Contact Centre at 1-877-785-1555 or [email protected].
The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. Investors are urged to check the registration of any persons or company offering an investment opportunity and to review the OSC investor materials available at www.osc.gov.on.ca.
