Access to streets in the downtown core of Ottawa and Gatineau will be restricted on Canada Day
GATINEAU, QC, June 29, 2018 /CNW/ - Canadian Heritage would like to inform residents and visitors that access to streets in the downtown core of Ottawa and Gatineau will be restricted during the Canada Day celebrations on July 1, 2018.
Only those displaying an official Canada Day circulation access pass, hotel patrons (with proof of hotel reservation), residents (with a driver's licence as proof of residence) and emergency responders will be able to access streets that are closed. The Alexandra Bridge will be closed to all traffic.
In order to fully enjoy activities offered throughout the day, residents and visitors are encouraged to travel to the celebration sites by public transit or bicycle.
Tips for commuting on July 1
Canada Day shuttle bus: A free shuttle will be running between the Canadian Museum of History (in Gatineau) and Major's Hill Park and the Supreme Court of Canada (in Ottawa) from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on July 1.

Direction Gatineau–Ottawa toward Parliament Hill:
- Ottawa: intersection of Murray Street and Mackenzie Avenue
- Gatineau: on Laurier Street South, at the Elisabeth-Bruyère intersection
- Ottawa: on Wellington Street, in front of the Supreme Court of Canada

Ride your bike to the celebrations: Free supervised bike stations will be available at Major's Hill Park, the Supreme Court of Canada and the Canadian Museum of History.
Use public transit: Take advantage of the free service offered all day on all routes by the Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) and OC Transpo.
