Ottawa Paramedic Service - Real-Time COVID Insight
OTTAWA, May 5, 2020 /CNW/ - The Ottawa Paramedic Service partnered with Canadian data analytics consulting company, GINQO, in 2012 to develop innovative dashboards, using the Qlik analytics platform, to provide data insight, initially for key performance indicators such as response time performance. Most recently, the Ottawa Paramedic Service has used a real-time data feed from the Ontario Ministry of Health's Central Ambulance Communication Centre to improve situational awareness, understand system pressures and aid decision making around patient distribution to local emergency departments.
Now, with COVID, the Ottawa Paramedic Service dashboards provide critical pandemic decision support and fast insight into the status of their whole system for capacity, screening, surveillance and compliance.
"The Ottawa Paramedic Service is working closely with GINQO to supplement our existing dashboards and develop new ones to provide insights into COVID screening, surveillance, compliance and operation sustainability efforts", said Greg Furlong, Deputy Chief with the Service. "These dashboards assist our identification and response efforts on a daily basis as we work to manage the impact of COVID."
GINQO President Ingo Hardieck said "The Ottawa Paramedic Service is a leader using business intelligence for digital transformation within the Public Safety sector. We are proud of the solution we developed in the last few weeks to improve the safety of the Paramedics team and the citizens of the Ottawa region. Developing COVID dashboards has been an honor and privilege to optimize the COVID-19 response and provide important data insights that help protect paramedics, patients, healthcare workers and citizens."
