Out of the Shadows Fashion Show - March 8th, 2013
Where Fashion Meets Compassion
TORONTO, Feb. 19, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto is a diverse city often leading the way in creating innovative expressions of community collaborations. Out of the Shadows is a unique event celebrating human resiliency and creativity with collaborating efforts of street-involved women, university students and community-based organizations. This year, on International Women's Day, a group of street-involved women will own a runway in Toronto, modelling a tailored-made outfit created by a group of Ryerson fashion students. All Saints Church-Community Centre and Street Health are hosting the first ever fashion show that gives women who work in street-based sex work a chance to be uniquely dressed by a student designer. The designers will signify each woman's individuality through fashion and style, and Torontonians will have a chance to witness the expression of women whose voices are so seldom heard.
Join us for Out of the Shadows on March 8th at Daniels Spectrum - 585 Dundas Street East, at 8pm. Proceeds from the event will go towards ground-breaking programs that support women in extremely high-risk communities.
The event will be hosted by supermodel Yasmin Warsame, with support from MAC Cosmetics, Jie Hair Design, Occasions by Brandon Lee, Steam Whistle Brewing Company, Leah's Bakery, Five Doors North, and The Butcher's Son Catering. Renowned fashion consultant Wayne Clark will act as a mentor through the creative process.
