Outdoor retailer plans to open next new store late June in Langley, BC
MEC's Willowbrook location will be accessible to Fraser Valley residents
VANCOUVER, March 21, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC), Canada's leading outdoor retailer, announced today that its next new store will open late June in Langley, BC in Willowbrook Shopping Centre, on the Fraser Highway near the Langley Bypass.
The 16,000-square-foot MEC store will be the outdoor retail co-operative's third location in the Lower Mainland, its fourth in BC, and seventeenth in Canada.
MEC CEO David Labistour said: "People who love being active in the outdoors will find plenty to be excited about in MEC's Langley store. From traditional outdoor activities like climbing and paddling through to urban pursuits such as cycling and road running, the store will offer a broad selection of all the great gear, apparel and accessories that MEC is renowned for."
MEC's Langley store will be readily accessible to the thousands of co-op members who live in the Fraser Valley. Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Maple Ridge and White Rock residents as well as those from Langley itself are expected to frequent the store.
The store will also be a service point for members to access MEC's complete product assortment that is available online at www.mec.ca.
MEC Langley will employ approximately 25 people, including 5 senior staff. Recruitment for the store manager and other senior staff positions is currently underway.
