NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON, May 15, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Ivanhoé Cambridge has officially opened Outlet Collection at Niagara, its open-air outlet shopping centre in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. The 520,000 ft² (48,300 m²) centre, the largest of its kind in Canada, is home to 102 marquee retailers, including several first-in-Canada outlet locations such as a Bass Pro Shops Outpost concept store, a Pandora Outlet and a White House Black Market Outlet. Other sought-after brands at the centre include Kate Spade Outlet, NIKE Factory Store, Calvin Klein Outlet and Michael Kors Outlet.
"We are very proud to have chosen Niagara-on-the-Lake to open our first Outlet Collection location," said Daniel Fournier, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ivanhoé Cambridge. "Outlet Collection at Niagara redefines the outlet shopping experience in Canada through its outstanding offering of prestigious retailers. It is our vision of a modern shopping centre: an experiential destination that is fully integrated with its community, that celebrates and promotes local culture and focuses on customer convenience and service."
"On behalf of the residents and Council of the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, I'd like to extend our congratulations to Ivanhoé Cambridge for today's opening and for choosing the beautiful Niagara region for this extraordinary outlet shopping centre," said Lord Mayor Dave Eke. "As a result of the Outlet Collection at Niagara, our region will now become an even greater attraction for visitors. Our community will benefit from the creation of 1,500 full- and part-time jobs and an estimated $5 million annually to the local tax base."
David Baffa, Senior Vice President, Retail Development, Ivanhoé Cambridge, noted: "Our teams have worked very hard for this historic day for our Company, for the residents of Niagara-on-the-Lake and tourists." He added: "We invite all 10 million annual visitors to the Niagara region to stop by and see us the next time they are in the area. Our stores, the fabulous prices, the food court pavilion, complete with an outdoor fireplace, Muskoka chairs and an onsite tasting venue for Peller Estates Winery, will ensure your first visit isn't your last."
Yesterday, the opening of the centre was celebrated by the Niagara Falls Illumination Board with an exceptional illumination of Niagara Falls in the centre's teal colour. This morning, the grand opening was well attended by the local community, who enjoyed live entertainment and locally-sourced delicacies. The festivities culminated with dancers taking to the stage in front of a 'wall of rushing water', a nod to the centre's famous neighbour to the south.
