Outward Bound Canada Partners with Grip
- Charity Aims to Tell its Story and Share its Impact Nationwide -
TORONTO, July 24, 2013 /CNW/ - Grip Limited today announced a new partnership with Outward Bound Canada (OBC) to help the charity known best for its nationwide wilderness-based personal development programs. The aim is to reconnect with past participants and donors in advance of its upcoming 50th anniversary in Canada.
As OBC alumni themselves, the Grip Team is taking on this challenge with open arms, having a strong affinity for the brand based on their own perspective-altering OBC experience.
"This partnership was not only a great opportunity to work on a really interesting, Canadian brand in the non-profit space, but it was also the perfect chance for us to give back. Our own Outward Bound excursion really gave us all something invaluable, and now we'll be able to bring that experience to life and help more people reconnect and connect with these exceptional programs," said Bob Shanks, one of Grip's founding partners.
Over the last three years, the charity has made some shifts in order to increase program relevancy and accessibility. The most significant change has been the addition of urban programming in both Toronto and, most recently, Vancouver. These programs are an extension not a replacement of Outward Bound Canada's traditional wilderness based programming.
"It has always been challenging to truly capture the impact and essence of an Outward Bound program as it is both highly personal and contextual," explained OBC's Executive Director, Sarah Wiley. "Therefore, we're thrilled to be able to work with an agency like Grip that not only has experienced our programs first hand but also has the expertise and vision to help communicate Outward Bound Canada's unique value proposition."
Grip will initially focus on building profile for Outward Bound in the social/digital space. Early efforts will be made to reconnect with Alumni, who are willing to share their experience and recommend Outward Bound to others.
