Over 500 Pan-European Can-Am Spyder roadster owners rally in Austria
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, May 14 /CNW Telbec/ - More than 500 Can-Am Spyder roadster owners (325 vehicles) rallied in picturesque Gunskirchen from May 13-15, for BRP's inaugural Pan-European Spyder roadster homecoming event.
Driven by a passionate owner community that now spans some 50 countries, BRP's innovative Can-Am Spyder roadster, with its unique Y-Factor geometry, has become a global phenomenon. "This first homecoming event for pan-European Can-Am Spyder roadster owners has been simply incredible. It was a truly memorable experience for all," said Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager, International division.
"Passion and innovation run through our veins. Around the world, our name is synonymous with the ultimate ride. This event was a great chance to provide our passionate Can-Am roadster owners with the full BRP experience," Dawson added.
The Pan-European homecoming event provided the perfect setting for Spyder roadster owners to celebrate spring, share their passion for "riding reinvented" and exchange stories and experiences with like-minded adventurers from Europe. They came from 17 different countries throughout the continent including: France, Germany, Spain, Benelux, United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, and Slovakia.
The BRP team organized an action-packed agenda which included tour of the Gunskirchen-based BRP-Powertrain division which manufactures engines for BRP's vehicles, including the ROTAX engines that power the Can-Am Spyder RS (roadster sport) and RT (roadster touring) models. Rally participants also had the opportunity to visit the newly opened Regionales Innovations Centrum (RIC); one of three R & D facilities at BRP. The RIC has the mandate of developing more efficient powertrain technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of its products. A VIP evening including seminars, ATV & motorcycle freestyle exhibits, live band concerts and a roadster Spyder parade in the streets of Gunskirchen all made for a memorable experience for all participants.
In North America, for the third year in a row, BRP is also planning a similar homecoming event, this time in Chicago, Illinois on June 25 - 26, 2010. For information, visit http://www.can-amvip.com.
