Over $750,000 to support the expansion and improve the productivity of four Rouyn-Noranda companies Français
Government of Canada to support projects of Bâtiment Global International, Géliko, Soudure Thibault and Installation Média-Pub
ROUYN-NORANDA, QC, July 31, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The Government of Canada is committed to setting up close partnerships with Quebec businesses in order to support their efforts to innovate and increase their productivity and competitiveness, while contributing to the economic vitality of the regions, creating good-quality jobs and helping improve citizens' quality of life.
Bâtiment Global International, Géliko Inc., Soudure Thibault Inc. and Installation Média-Pub will receive funding from the Government of Canada to improve their production capacity, acquire strategic equipment and support their growth. Delivery of their respective projects will generate total investments of over $1.6M and create 14 jobs in Rouyn-Noranda.
The repayable contributions totalling $768,914 were announced by Stéphane Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Argenteuil–La Petite-Nation and Parliamentary Secretary for Sport and Persons with Disabilities, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.
The funding, allocated by the Government of Canada under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program, will enable recipient businesses to attain their objectives.

A $380,000 repayable contribution out of a total investment of $800,000 Since May 2011, Bâtiment Global International (BGI) has offered building inventory managers a specialized Web application for managing the energy consumption of buildings. Developed by BGI, the artificial intelligence in this application can detect in real time irregularities leading to buildings' overconsumption of energy, in addition to proposing solutions that can be implemented immediately. The company is outstanding by virtue of its comprehensive, innovative and unique service offering. The first objective of the project is the international marketing of BGI Solution, and the second is the formation of the development team, which will ensure that the technological advance of BGI Solution is maintained. The assistance of CED will help the business improve and perfect the solution's artificial intelligence, create seven jobs, and purchase equipment and technological tools. It will also make possible various marketing activities in Canadian and international markets, such as commercial prospecting meetings, promotional tools, a new website, online services and targeted advertising. |

A $216,414 repayable contribution out of a total investment of $432,828 Géliko Inc. has been manufacturing hydraulic cylinders and specialized metal parts for drilling companies since 1998. Hydraulic cylinders are found mainly in heavy machinery, nacelles, and mining, logging and farming equipment. The business also does various types of welding and machining, and has a mobile machine shop that allows it to go to its clients when the repair cannot be done in the company shop. Géliko is a supplier to a number of major prime manufacturers in the mining industry. The purpose of the project is to enhance the company's performance in order to support its growth and improve its productivity. It entails the acquisition and installation of equipment that will enable it to increase its production capacity. With the assistance from CED, the company will be able to acquire a test set, a sandblasting system and a digital lathe. The project will create four jobs. |

Soudure Thibault Inc. (Soudure M.A. du Cuivre) |
A $122,500 repayable contribution out of a total investment of $300,000 In operation since 1998, Soudure Thibault Inc. is a family business specializing in general welding and the booking of industrial and mining labour. The SME manufactures small steel structures and delivers projects for varied clients ranging from mining concerns to private citizens. Its products include gravel chutes, escape ladders, service boxes and industrial tools. It does contract work for large-scale mining projects whose activities contribute to the economic development of all the regional county municipalities (MRCs) of Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Nord-du-Québec. The purpose of the project is to enhance the company's performance in order to support its growth and improve its productivity through the acquisition of strategic digital equipment. The assistance from CED will help the company acquire and install a numerically controlled (NC) machine. Delivery of the project is expected to create one job. |
Installation Média-Pub (6461069 Canada Inc.) |
A $50,000 repayable contribution out of a total investment of $100,000 Established in 2005, Installation Média-Pub specializes in the design, manufacture and installation of customized 3D signs in aluminum, wood and plastic. It installs its signage in industrial, commercial and institutional sectors. Its clients include a Crown corporation, mining companies, and large corporate businesses. The purpose of the project is to modernize and automate processes for manufacturing 3D signs so that the company can expand through the use of digital technologies. The funding from CED will help Installation Média-Pub acquire and install automated numerically controlled equipment for producing channel letters. Delivery of the project is expected to create two jobs. |
