Over Sixty of Nova Scotia's Most Prominent Leaders Unite to Help Grow Nova Scotia's Economy
HALIFAX, Oct. 31, 2012 /CNW/ - Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has rallied more than 60 of Nova Scotia's most prominent leaders to help drive business growth in the province.
The leaders have volunteered their time to the new ConnectNS initiative to identify new connections and potential business opportunities for the province.
"Business development is all about relationships and making connections, and we know that Nova Scotia's most valuable resource is its people," said Stephen Lund, NSBI President and CEO. "This initiative will generate awareness of Nova Scotia internationally and it is our goal to embrace connections to drive new investment to Nova Scotia and create opportunities for our companies to grow internationally."
ConnectNS is co-chaired by Mr. Lund, John Risley, president of Clearwater Fine Foods Inc; and Bob Kelly, Chancellor of Saint Mary's University and former Chairman/CEO of Bank of New York Mellon.
"One of our strengths as a province is how willing we are to roll up our sleeves and work together to make Nova Scotia the best place to do business" said Mr. Risley, "It comes as no surprise that many of our leaders are dedicated to growing our economy through ConnectNS."
ConnectNS leaders were identified by experience, international reach and commitment to Nova Scotia. Each leader has committed to keeping Nova Scotia 'top of mind' in daily business interactions - whether discussing the benefits of investing, doing business in the province, or connecting NSBI to fellow Nova Scotians or alumni during travels.
"There are many people, including myself, living outside the province who can help make those essential connections for business growth in Nova Scotia," said Mr. Kelly. "I've never hesitated recommending Nova Scotia to investors."
