OTTAWA, Feb. 8, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has allocated $766,333 to 16 applicants to assist their participation in the environmental assessment by review panel of the proposed Pacific Future Energy Refinery Project in British Colombia.

This funding is allocated through the Participant Funding Program administered by the Agency. A funding review committee, independent of the review panel process, was established to assess the requests for funding.
The funding will assist recipients to review and comment on the draft Review Panel Terms of Reference, the proponent's Environmental Impact Statement, and to prepare for and participate in the public hearing.
The funding will also assist recipients to comment on the potential conditions that would be required, if the project is allowed to proceed. Indigenous groups will also receive funding to participate in consultation activities following the submission of the Panel Report.
