TORONTO, March 4, 2013 /CNW/ - The Ontario College of Trades (the College) is committed to being open and transparent about critical decisions that affect its stakeholders and future members.
Following a call for Written Submissions and public Oral Hearings, independent Review Panels have recently recommended apprentice to journeyperson ratio changes for the Roofer trade and the Terrazzo, Tile & Marble Setter trade. The effect of these recommendations, when implemented, will be to reduce the journeyperson to apprentice ratio for both trades.
The Board of Governors (the Board) of the College is responsible for setting out ratios in a Board regulation once the ratio change has been decided by a Review Panel. There will be no changes to the existing ratios for Roofer or Terrazzo, Tile & Marble Setter until the Board regulation is put in place later in 2013.
The College will continue to turn to its stakeholders and future members on numerous occasions to get their feedback and hear their voices on important issues.
Copies of the reports by the Review Panels and a summary of Ratio Review Decisions are available online at: www.collegeoftrades.ca/ratioreviews/review-panel-decisions.
