Panel Decisions on Apprenticeship Ratio Reviews
TORONTO, Aug. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - The Ontario College of Trades (the College) is committed to being open and transparent about critical decisions that affect its stakeholders and future members.
Following a call for written submissions and public oral hearings, independent Review Panels have recently released decisions on the journeyperson to apprentice ratios for the following trades:
- Drywall, acoustic & lathing applicator; Drywall finisher and plasterer
- Electrician: construction and maintenance; Electrician: domestic and rural
- Powerline technician Sprinkler & fire protection installer
The Review Panels recommended no changes to the existing ratios, except for the two electrician trades, where there was a change to the graduated scale of ratios, allowing for more apprentices. Please note that the final Review Panel decision for the general carpenter trade is expected in early fall of 2013.
The College will continue to turn to its stakeholders and future members on numerous occasions to get their feedback and hear their voices on important issues.
Copies of the reports by the Review Panels and a summary of Ratio Review Decisions are available online at: www.collegeoftrades.ca/about/review-panels/ratioreviews.
