MONTREAL, Jan. 12, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Union of Regrouped Blue Collars of Montreal is proud this morning to announce the names of the members of the panel of independent observers who will oversee the conduct and counting of the secret vote voluntarily submitted by its president Chantal Racette in order to know the true opinion of all 6,500 members, who will be able to participate without pressure, in order to maintain or not their support, whatever their shift, over a period of 14 hours which starts at 6 am and ends at 8 pm this evening.
The panel is composed of 7 prestigious independent observers, composed of Mr. Claude Généreux, former CUPE National Secretary-Treasurer from 2001 to 2011 and President of CUPE-Quebec from 1993 to 2001; Ms. Lucie Levasseur, until recently President of CUPE Quebec and National Vice-President of CUPE; Mr. André Frappier, President of the Montreal Union of Postal Workers from 1996 to 2002 and National Director of the Montreal Region from 2002 to 2005, Member of the General Council of the FTQ and the Board of Directors of the CRMM-FTQ from 1996 to 2010; Mr. Benoit Jobin President of the C.A. of the Caisse Desjardins of the municipal network; Mr. Jean Carette, retired UQAM professor, President of the Saint-Clément solidarity cooperative and a third member of the Pension Commission of the Cols Bleus de Montréal; Mr. Ronald Cameron, retired teacher, President of the National Federation of Teachers of Quebec (FNEEQ-CSN) and negotiator (1998-2009), Director General of the Institute for Cooperation in Adult Education (ICÉA) (2011-2015) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alternatives (2010-2016); And Mr. Jean-Pierre Auclair, vice-president of the Champlain Education Union (CSQ) from 1998 to 2003, arbitrator for Unemployment Insurance for 26 years and still a member of the Caisse Desjardins de l'éducation (2004-2017).
This Vote is held at St-Arsène Church on Bélanger street, on the corner of Christophe-Colomb. The results are expected around 10 pm and will be communicated to the media.
