CALGARY, May 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada officially proclaim May 26 - June 1, 2013 National EMS Week Awareness Week. This week salutes the men and women of Canada's Emergency Medical Services. In celebration of the lifelong dedication to their work that keep Canadians safe every day, we officially recognize this week as an opportunity to provide our Paramedic services across the country an opportunity to proudly showcase their profession.
This year's National EMS Awareness Week theme is: EMS - Health Care in Motion, 'Soins de Sante, en movement.' Whether full-time or part-time, rural or urban, ground, air, or industrial based, paramedics across Canada are available and ready to respond to emergencies twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Adopting innovative programs, such as Community Paramedics, designed to reduce strain on healthcare systems by treating patients in their own homes- truly reflects EMS is Health Care in Motion.
The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada represent over 30,000 paramedics from coast to coast. Paramedics are the third largest health care provider group in Canada. They serve on the front lines of health care in every community across our nation providing essential care. They are a reliable and constant presence in Canada's remote rural areas as well as our largest urban cities. Every day, the efforts of our frontline paramedics, EMS Communications staff, and EMS support staff make a difference to someone in their community.
The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada President, Darren Sandbeck states, "Paramedics are the emergency arm of healthcare and the healthcare arm in an emergency". Emergency Medical Services personnel are the only profession that still makes house calls, protecting the public and safety of the community each and every day. On behalf of the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada, I am proud to officially proclaim May 26 - June 1, 2013 National EMS Awareness Week."
Numerous activities are planned for EMS services across the country highlighting the work of our Paramedics. Please join us applauding the outstanding work of our Paramedics across the country.
Media are invited to join PCC President Darren Sandbeck at a National EMS Awareness Week launch event in Calgary, Alberta, on May 26th. Mr. Sandbeck will be available for interview regarding this proclamation and celebration plans for National EMS Awareness Week.
