MONTREAL, July 2, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Parkinson Society Quebec is now Parkinson Quebec. Leading organization for people with Parkinson's disease and their caregivers, Parkinson Quebec is making Quebec more than ever the centre of its activities.
Having served the Parkinson's community for decades, Parkinson Quebec continues to be active in Quebec for Quebecers who have to deal with a still misunderstood neurodegenerative disease for which no cure has yet been discovered.
In Quebec, more than 100,000 people are touched by Parkinson's, natural caregivers included. Located throughout the province, these persons need access to resources and services wherever they live.
"Donations from the people of Quebec are the main source of Parkinson Quebec's financing, stated executive director Nicole Charpentier. This important change in our organization allows us to renew our pledge that money raised in Quebec will be used to develop services in Quebec. This is an overriding concern of Parkinson Quebec."
Parkinson Quebec is proud to continue financing research through the Fonds québécois de recherche sur le Parkinson. Since 2012, almost a million dollars have been allocated to financing projects. "Research is a pillar of Parkinson Quebec's mission, affirmed Richard Côté, chairman of the board of directors, Parkinson Quebec. The excellence of Quebec researchers is known throughout the world and Parkinson Quebec is positioning itself as a major partner in financially supporting research in Quebec."
