Parksville man arrested for Criminal Code offences
VANCOUVER, Oct. 25, 2017 /CNW/ - James Waring Minnie (a.k.a. Terry James Minnie), 54, was arrested on October 16, 2017, following an investigation by the British Columbia Securities Commission's (BCSC) Criminal Investigations Branch. The warrant for Minnie's arrest was issued in connection with charges against Minnie under the Criminal Code, and he was arrested in Parksville, B.C.
It is alleged that, from 2014 to 2016, Minnie solicited over $500,000 from two B.C. investors, claiming the money was needed for various business ventures. Rather than use the money as promised, it is alleged Minnie spent the bulk on his personal expenses. As a result, Minnie is currently charged under the Criminal Code with two counts of fraud over $5,000 and two counts of theft over $5,000.
The BCSC would like to thank the Quesnel detachment of the RCMP and the Victoria Police Department for their assistance during this investigation and the Oceanside (Parksville) detachment of the RCMP for their assistance during the arrest of Minnie. Minnie is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
