Partners International Canada - Helping thousands of children at risk in Nigeria
BRAMPTON, ON, May 27, 2013 /CNW/ - Kevin McKay, Director of Development at PI Canada, announced the arrival of Hope In Action Tour speaker David Umune, the president of Nigerian NGO, TETMI. David will be traveling throughout Ontario and Western Canada raising awareness for their various children at risk and improved education initiatives in rural Nigeria.
Currently, children under the age of 15 make up 45% of Nigeria's population and due to extreme poverty almost half of those children do not attend school. This results in child labour and early marriage for young girls and in some cases enslavement of children. The schools available in Eboni State have poor infrastructure. The lack of education, medical facilities, and clean water are endemic realities.
David's team is working to change this harsh reality for more than 1,500 students attending three TETMI run private primary schools and one secondary school. "We are passionate about delivering holistic development and true transformation to the hardest and most impoverished rural places in south-east Nigeria," says Umune.
We invite you to hear David's stories of transformation and to meet him personally. Please visit www.partnersinternational.ca/hope-in-action-tour to see a complete listing of all speaking engagements.
