WENDAKE, QC, Aug. 21, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Assembly of the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador (AFNQL), on behalf of all the Chiefs and Grand Chiefs who sit at its table, wish to pay tribute to a Grand Chief, Mr. Wellie Picard, who passed away on August 19th.
"Grand Chief Wellie Picard's legacy to us all is a model of commitment and dedication for his Nations, his population and to Wendake that was so dear to his hearth. As Grand Chief of his Nation, he also supported his Fellow Chiefs and Grand Chiefs of all our Nations, to whom he devoted the most profound respect. Today, I would like to pay tribute to him and offer our most sincere condolences to his wife and his family. Wellie, we shall not forget you."
It is with these words charged with deep emotion, that the Chief of the AFNQL, Ghislain Picard, marks the passing of Mr. Wellie Picard, who has been Chief and Grand Chief of the Nation huronne-wendat for numerous years, an Elder that his entire community and all First Nations will miss, and of whom they will keep an excellent memory.
