Patrick Brown: Ontario said "No" to Christine Elliott in 2014
PC leadership candidate Patrick Brown, MP took direct aim at Christine Elliott and the "same old Party establishment" on Monday.
LONDON, ON, Jan. 26, 2015 /CNW/ - Patrick Brown took direct aim at Christine Elliott in a PC Party leadership debate Monday night, saying Ontario looked at her as well as the PC Leadership establishment in the 2014 provincial election and decided it didn't like what it saw.
Brown told the audience of PC Party members at the London Convention Centre that the average person in Ontario wasn't very happy with Kathleen Wynne's Liberal government in 2014. They didn't like the scandals, they didn't like the waste. They didn't like the cost of Hydro. They didn't like the pension plan. Ontarians wanted a better option in the 2014 election.
"But let's be honest with ourselves. They didn't look just at Tim Hudak, they looked at the establishment of our Party," said Patrick Brown. "They looked at you Christine, our Deputy Leader, standing shoulder to shoulder with Tim Hudak on the 100,000 Job Cuts. They chose Kathleen Wynne over you."
The PC Party of Ontario needs to be renewed, said Brown. It's time to let grassroots members once again become the driving energy of the Party. Brown committed to growing the PC Party to 100,000 members from every corner of the province and every walk of life. He committed to calling a constitutional review to restructure the Party so the same old establishment that led the Party astray can be replaced with a structure that meets the needs of the Party and its members in the 21st Century.
Brown was cheered on by hundreds of supporters, including many who weren't able to fit into the debate theatre by Party organizers. Instead, the overflow crowd watched Brown debate the other leadership candidates from the Patrick Brown Campaign's reception room which was set up in the largest Salon in the London Convention Centre.
