Pavilion Global Markets recognized as top 10 agency-only securities trader in annual survey of transaction costs
MONTREAL, Feb. 6, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - For the third year in a row, Pavilion Global Markets ranks as one of the most efficient agency-only brokers in the world, according to Elkins/McSherry in its annual survey of transaction costs. The survey, published in Institutional Investor magazine, looks at trading data covering 24 million transactions from 2000 brokers worldwide. Elkins/McSherry calculates the cost differential of each broker (agency-only, full service or bulge bracket) against the total universe.

For global equities, and for both arrival price and volume weighted average price (VWAP), Pavilion ranked No. 6 among agency-only brokers. In the previous two years, Pavilion Global Markets (formerly Brockhouse Cooper), also cracked the top 10, posting transaction costs that, in some cases, were 30 basis points lower than the Elkins/McSherry Global Universe of trading costs.
"I'm very proud of the work we do on behalf of our clients and am pleased with these results," said Patrick Belland, President & Managing Director of Pavilion Global Markets. "Our cost efficiency and robust execution capabilities help set us apart from the competition."
Jamieson Ritchie, Pavilion's Director of Global Markets Trading, said the company's year-over-year performance is by design. "Keeping implementation costs low has been a long-term strategic focus and the latest results are reflective of our ongoing efforts. In a challenging market environment, we have also focused on meeting client needs, both with innovative research products such as our global macro strategy research, and excellent customer service."
"These top-ranked results will be of particular interest to Pavilion's clients who may be transitioning their portfolios", noted Mario Choueiri, Director, Transition Management. "Best-execution trading is key to delivering value to clients who are transitioning their portfolios. With an independent assessment of our transaction costs compared to other brokers, our transition clients may be confident that they are getting very good results."
