Paying Tribute to Canada's Pawed Protectors
The country's most heroic animals to be inducted into the 2015 Purina Animal Hall of Fame
TORONTO, April 30, 2015 /CNW/ - Three fearless pets and one remarkable service animal will be recognized for their life-saving feats on Monday, May 4th at the 47th annual Purina Animal Hall of Fame. These four-legged heroes will join the ranks of other pets and service animals who have come to the rescue in dire situations to protect, and ultimately save a human life. Their incredible stories demonstrate bravery, intelligence, loyalty and the unique bond that exists between people and pets.
Founded in 1968, the Purina Animal Hall of Fame is the longest-running pet recognition program in Canada, inducting 168 animals who have saved a human life, including 140 dogs, 27 cats and one horse. This year's inductees have been carefully selected from many cross-country nominations submitted by those impacted by the valiant acts exhibited by a pet or service animal over the past year.
Media are invited to attend the exclusive induction ceremony held at Purina PawsWay, where the stories of the 2015 inductees will be shared by some notable pet enthusiasts. Hosted by Canadian actors Colin Mochrie and Debra McGrath, this year's ceremony will also feature a special announcement to introduce a new category for the Purina Animal Hall of Fame.
