THORNHILL, ON, Nov. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Cory Salisbury will be remembered as a selfless man who always put his family first.
For the past six years, Salisbury worked as a tow truck driver in Harrow, Ontario for County Towing, a contract service provider for CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO).
On September 9, 2012, tragedy struck. A blaze tore through Salisbury's home. The 36-year-old tried to rescue his wife from the burning house, but neither of them made it out.
They leave behind a 14-year-old son.
A trust fund has been set up in Brandon Salisbury's name. The tight-knit towing community has rallied together for one of their own, opening their hearts and wallets. Over the course of two months, nearly $15,000 has been raised for the teenager.
"When requesting donations for Brandon, I never imagined the overwhelming response I would receive," said Derek Didone, Owner of County Towing. "I want to personally thank CAA and our towing family for your generosity and support. Your donations will have a lasting impact on a young man's life."
"Our hearts go out to the Salisbury family during this difficult time," said Cindy Hillaby, VP Membership and Automotive Services, CAA SCO. "We are deeply saddened by this tragic event and offer our support to the family."
CAA South Central Ontario is a not-for-profit auto club offering insurance, travel, automotive care and roadside services. There are more than 1.9 million CAA members in South Central Ontario and over 5.6 million members in Canada. Visit www.caasco.com.
