Independent testing shows the speeds customers actually get from their service provider
TORONTO, Oct. 10, 2014 /CNW/ - PCMag.com, a leading U.S. technology website, crossed the border to test Canadian Internet speeds and for a second year running named Rogers Canada's fastest Internet service provider. As an example, Rogers customers in Toronto experienced speeds that were up to five times faster than the competition and faster than any speed tested in the U.S.
"Unlike other tests that measure speeds for products that only a fraction of Canadians can actually receive, the PCMag.com results show the actual speeds customers experience from their Internet provider. Consumers want to know they'll get the speeds they pay for and not just a bunch of marketing hype," said Rob Goodman, Senior Director, Internet Products, Rogers Communications. "When our customers watch videos, upload photos or surf the web, it's on Canada's fastest internet network. We know the Internet is essential to our customers and we're continually investing to deliver the best possible experience."
Earlier this year independent testing by SamKnows, a globally-recognized authority on broadband speeds, confirmed that Rogers delivers on average 100 per cent or more of its advertised download speeds, even in peak periods. The study, based on data collected in customers' homes by SamKnows, proves that Rogers customers are getting the fast and reliable Internet speeds they pay for.
The Internet is the backbone of the Canadian home. Rogers customers have on average six connected devices in the home and analysts have noted that by 2022, the typical family may own as many as 500 smart devices. From gaming systems to furnaces to kitchen gadgets – connected devices are now household staples. Internet speeds are more important than ever before with the average Canadian spending over 40 hours online per month.
