Pembina Pipeline Corporation matches employee donations for Haiti relief
effort
CALGARY, Feb. 16 /CNW/ - Pembina Pipeline Corporation and its employees and contractors have raised a combined total of $36,210 to be used to support the Canadian Red Cross' disaster relief efforts in Haiti.
The company set a goal for employees and contractors by offering to match, dollar for dollar, the first $15,000 raised through donations to the Canadian Red Cross. Employees and contractors met that goal and surpassed it by raising $21,210.
"Pembina believes in not only being a good neighbour where we live and operate - but to lend a helping hand outside of our immediate community as well," said Bob Michaleski, president and chief executive officer.
Our investment decisions are based on our understanding of the unique needs and characteristics of each community. As a result of our consultation efforts, we focus our community investment initiatives on supporting organizations that advance education, preserve and protect the environment, and foster wellness and cultural awareness. Pembina usually reserves the Community Investment program for use within Alberta and British Columbia, however, in times when the need for help is so urgent - Pembina will offer what assistance it can, regardless of where in the world the community is located. In 2006, Pembina, staff and contractors raised nearly $27,000 for relief aid after the Indonesian Tsunami.
"Our community investment program encourages our employees to give back to the communities where they live, work and play. The result of these efforts is a program that is a source of great pride at Pembina" said Bob Michaleski.
Pembina's field offices are located throughout Alberta in Drayton Valley, Sherwood Park, Whitecourt, Swan Hills, Valleyview, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray as well as Fort St. John and Kamloops British Columbia. The head office is in Calgary, AB. Pembina currently employs about 420 people.
Pembina Pipeline Corporation; a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Pembina Pipeline Income Fund, transports crude oil and natural gas liquids produced in Western Canada, owns and operates oil sands pipelines and has a growing presence in midstream and gas services. Pembina's trust units (PIF.UN) and convertible debentures (PIF.DB.B) are traded on the TSX.
